Playa de la Caleta (Caleta Beach). The most famous beach of Cadiz, it always appears in the Carnaval popular songs for its beauty and importance in everyday’s life for the Viña district. A must is a photograph of the Caleta beach with the fishing boats during dusk.
The beach belongs to the Old City and is wrapped by two castles: the castles of San Sebastian and Santa Cristina. In the middle of the beach there is a building, formelrly a health resort, but actually the Andalusian Centre for Underwater Activities. The beach is 450 metres long and a medium width of 30 metres at low tide. The calcareous-silica sand is very fine and golden coloured.
