The Murals in Ávila are more than just a symbol of a warlike past, but in reality they reflect the history of Ávila and its people.
In addition to revealing truths about the city, the murals have stood as an active and determining factor in forming the city and distributing spaces to those diverse social groups which lived there (artisans, noblemen, clerks, Jews, Mudejars, gardeners). If one carefully contemplates this monument -the most emblematic of this old and wise Castilian city- the visitor will be able to perceive the great matters that were always desired: wealth, power, honour.
