The two big railway stations, Atocha and Chamartín, are in the capital; from here depart the international trains that unite the capital with Paris and Lisbon and the "Big Lines" railway routes that connect Madrid to all the Spanish capitals.
Atocha Train Station stands out for its speed and quality, its railway connections the Alaris trains or the latest generation of Talgo trains. These trains circulate daily between Madrid and Pamplona, Zaragoza, Valencia, Alicante and Barcelona. For further destinations, RENFE has a "hotel-train" service that does night trips to Paris, Lisbon, Santiago de Compostela or Barcelona.
In turn, the regional trains offer numerous connecting services to Madrid's closest capitals, many of them with great visitor interest like Salamanca, Toledo, Valladolid, Sigüenza, Ávila or Segovia. | | |
